HARD WORK PAYS OFF
Cody Staves is heading to Vermont Academy
After teaching three years at YULA, and coaching two years with the California Golden Bears youth hockey organization, #CAMP lead coach, Cody Staves, takes on new role as the varsity head coach at Vermont Academy. Cody has an extensive coaching background including working with the Pens Elite 18u AAA and 16u AAA under Max Ivanov, Pittsburgh Penguins skills coach. Over the last two years, Cody has not only brought exceptional on ice development to his players, but also introduced hockey analytics to the California Golden Bears organization. Iceberg Analytics is a developmental tool used to help teach players how to think the game and be more efficient on the ice.
When asked about the opportunity, Cody said, "I'm excited, Vermont Academy is giving me full autonomy to design and create the hockey culture. I get to share my hockey philosophy and my personal excitement about the sport with these young athletes."
This is a very exciting opportunity for the Southern California native. Cody wanted to finish the interview with a message to the youth hockey players here in California, "Opportunities come to those who work hard and have a vision for themselves."
